Hello everyone!
My name is David Kaelin, and I’m the owner of Game Over Videogames. I started this business on Oct 14th back in 2005, and at that time the retro gaming market had not even begun to show the signs of the incredible growth that was to come in the years that followed. I just always loved videogames and decided that I wanted to open my own retro-focused videogame store, and Game Over Videogames was born. What seemed like a crazy idea to many in the beginning, has never been easy, but I still enjoy every minute of it!
Success in business can usually be boiled down to a direct result of exactly 3 things - skill, support, and luck – and you must have all 3 to truly be successful. I had then, still have now, and continue to treasure all 3 as keys to our success!
Running Game Over Videogames has been an amazing ride thus far - full of ups and downs, insane stress levels, 50-60+ hour workweeks, and yet it has provided me with more friendship and joy than I could have possibly imagined! During the past 13 years, we’ve grown from a true “mom and pop” shop with one store and one employee (me)…to 55 amazing employees and 15 stores spread across TX and WA. Now as our 13th anniversary is approaching this weekend, I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone who has helped along the way.
There is absolutely NO WAY I could have done this on my own, so THANK YOU to every single customer, employee (past and present!), friend, family member, even competitors and naysayers who have helped me to get better, run the company better, and be a better person along the way. You have all given me the ability to have my dream job, and I wake up every day happy and thankful that I get to do this for a living.
